Asbury Woods was born in Caldwell County, North Carolina in 1854. He was the son of Newton Woods and Margaret Irene Smith and the grandson of Joseph Woods, a veteran of the War of 1812 and Christina Shell. Asbury Woods married Jane Miller on Valentine's Day in 1875. She was the daughter of David Miller, who died in the Civil War and the great granddaughter of Revolutionary War hero, John Miller. Asbury Woods, who died in 1921, was a blacksmith and woodworker and one of the key organizers behind the building of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Hudson, North Carolina. Jane Miller died in 1941 at the age of 84 years old. This site features photos of Asbury and Jane at various stages of their life and a few of their children and grandchildren.
